Dogs set to turn to NRL debutant Frawley

Playmaker Matt Frawley is expected to receive his NRL debut after Canterbury's Moses Mbye was suspended for a shoulder charge.

Under siege Canterbury coach Des Hasler looks set to turn to debutant Matt Frawley following Moses Mbye's shoulder charge ban.

The 22-year-old is likely to receive a call up for his side's crunch NRL clash against Brisbane on Thursday night after Mbye accepted a one-week ban for an illegal hit on Manly's Curtis Sironen.

Hasler and his charges are under pressure to turn around their 1-3 start to the 2017 season, a problem compounded by the loss of playmaker Mbye.

Frawley or fellow potential debutant Josh Cleeland shape as Hasler's options to partner five-eighth Josh Reynolds to take on the Broncos at ANZ Stadium.

Former Canberra under-20s captain Frawley is in fine form after setting up the Bulldogs' match-winning try in their NSW Cup win over Blacktown on the weekend after he put in a deft kick for Renouf To'Omaga's decisive four-pointer.

He is also the club's reserve grade captain.

Cleeland arrived at the club this year after a stint with Cronulla last season and being an integral part of the Ipswich Jets' 2015 national championship-winning season.

Hasler's only other option is shifting NSW Origin back-rower Josh Jackson into the halves however that remains unlikely.

The versatile Jackson has played several games at five-eighth during his career however he is not considered a ball player - a role filled by Mbye.
