Domino's Pizza will trial a dine-in store that aims to offer alcohol alongside gourmet pizzas in Brisbane's CBD.

Following rival Crust Gourmet Pizza Bar's move in September to offer home-delivered pizza with beer, wine or cider at some of its outlets in Melbourne, Domino's has applied for a liquor licence at its latest venture.

Domino's has invested a lot of money in technology that allows it to dominate fast food delivery but in an unusual move, it has opened a dine-in gourmet pizza store in central Brisbane.

The pizza maker has teamed up with local craft brewery Newstead Brewing Co to also serve alcohol at the store and expects to have an alcohol licence in coming months.

The licence application is still awaiting approval.

Similar to a traditional Italian pizzeria, the store uses hand-stretched dough and serves barista-made coffee.

The chief executive of the group's Australian and New Zealand operations, Nick Knight said customers get to create their own pizzas from premium ingredients.

"We are keen to roll out further new stores based on this concept in select high foot traffic locations in the not too distant future," he said.

Mr Knight said Domino's is accelerating new store openings with plans to open almost three new stores each week in Australia and New Zealand over the next three months.
