Doray pours first gold at Deflector

Gold producer Doray Minerals has poured the first gold bar at its Deflector project in Western Australia, on schedule.

Gold producer Doray Minerals has poured the first gold bar at its Deflector project in Western Australia, marking the start of production from its second mine.

The company recently completed construction of a 480,000 tonnes per annum ore processing plant at the project in the southern Murchison region of WA, 450km north of Perth.

It has also started producing concentrate, and expects to ramp up to commercial production in the next two months, with the first shipment likely in late-June.

Doray acquired the Deflector project through its 2014 merger with rival Mutiny Gold and tied up funding for the project in August last year.

The low-cost, high-grade project has an initial mine life of six years, and once commissioned, will nearly double the company's gold production to around 140,000 ounces a year.

Doray, which already operates the nearby Andy Well project, is targeting combined all-in sustaining costs of $1000 per ounce.

Doray shares closed two cents higher at 87 cents.
