Shane Dowrich's has scored 125 not out to put the West Indies in control of their first Test against Sri Lanka in Port of Spain.

The West Indies declared their first innings on 8-414 at Queen's Park Oval before reducing the tourists to 3-31 in reply at the end of day two.

West Indies had been kept in check on the opening day, but after resuming on 6-246 they finished the second with a lead of 383.

Dowrich, 46 not out overnight, put on 102 in partnership with Devendra Bishoo for the seventh wicket and shared an eighth-wicket stand of 75 with Kemar Roach.

Roach then bowled Sri Lanka opener Kusal Perera for a first-ball duck before Kusal Mendis and Angelo Mathews fell cheaply to Shannon Gabriel and skipper Jason Holder respectively.
