Dragons' Sims on crutches after collision

Tariq Sims will end St George Illawarra's NRL semi-final against South Sydney on crutches after appearing to injure his knee in a collision.

St George Illawarra's horror run of end-of-season injuries has continued, with Tariq Sims left on crutches after suffering a leg injury in their NRL semi-final clash with South Sydney.

Sims' right knee appeared to be injured when he clashed with an opponent in a hit-up early in the second half at ANZ Stadium on Saturday night.

He was taken from the field and reportedly received injections, according to the Nine Network, but was unable to return.

Sims joins Dragons captain and English international Gareth Widdop on the sidelines for the Saints, as well State of Origin prop Paul Vaughan.

Centre Euan Aitken is also battling to return from a hamstring injury, while Jack de Belin has battled ankle problems in recent weeks after the Dragons got through the first half of the season unscathed.

Sims was one of the Dragons' best against Brisbane in week one of the finals and will be crucial if they are to survive to face the Sydney Roosters next Saturday.
