Dravid, Jayawardene on ICC cricket panel

Former Indian stars Rahul Dravid and Mahela Jayawardene have been voted on to the ICC Cricket Committee.

India's Rahul Dravid and Sri Lanka's Mahela Jayawardene have been appointed to the cricket committee of the International Cricket Council.

The world cricket body says the two retired former captains have been appointed for three years each and will attend their first meeting at Lord's on May 31 and June 1, three weeks before the ICC Annual Conference in Edinburgh.

Dravid and former Australia offspinner Tim May have been elected by the current test captains as current player representatives replacing Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara and India's Laxman Sivaramakrishnan.

Jayawardene replaced former Australia captain Mark Taylor and joins former England captain Andrew Strauss as a past player representative.

Dravid and Jayawardena played 1161 international matches between them from 1996 to 2015.

Meanwhile, former India captain Anil Kumble has been given a three-year extension as the chairman of the committee, which makes recommendations on cricket playing issues.

Richard Kettleborough, three-time ICC Umpire of the Year, has been appointed umpires representative and replaces Steve Davis, who retired last year.
