Driver charged after hitting pedestrian

A man has died in the Victorian township of Seville after he and a woman were hit by a car, while the alleged driver has been charged.

A man has been charged after he allegedly struck two pedestrians, killing a man died and seriously injuring a woman.

The pair were walking through the township of Seville when they were hit just after 1pm on Saturday.

The man, 58, died at the scene, while the woman, 68, was airlifted to hospital.

The alleged driver, a 27-year-old man, was arrested at the scene and has been charged with one count of dangerous driving causing death and one count of dangerous driving causing serious injury.

The road toll for Victoria currently stands at 232 for 2017, compared to 272 at the same time last year.
