Police are questioning a 73-year-old man after a cyclist was killed in a hit and run south of Perth.

The woman was cycling on Old Coast Road in Halls Head on Tuesday morning when she was hit by a car that didn't stop.

That afternoon, police say the vehicle, a silver Ford station wagon with damage to its front-left hand side, had been found in Erskine.

Paramedics rushed the woman to Peel Health Campus but she couldn't be saved.

In a separate incident earlier on Tuesday, a cyclist in his 70s sustained cuts to both legs after being hit by a car in Perth's inner suburbs.
