A man and a woman whose bodies were found in a tent at a campground near Townsville died from a double drug overdose, police believe.

A double drug overdose caused the deaths of a man and a woman whose bodies were found in a tent at a popular camping spot in north Queensland, police believe.

A passer-by found the pair, aged in their 40s, after spotting two pairs of legs protruding from the tent at a Rollingstone campground, near Townsville, on Thursday afternoon.

Investigations are continuing.
