Durant has milestone; Warriors lose in NBA

Kevin Durant's personal milestone was overshadowed by an easy win for the LA Clippers over his Golden State.

Kevin Durant scored 40 to become the second youngest player to hit 20,000 career points as the Golden State Warriors lost to the LA Clippers 125-106.

Durant was relatively calm after hitting a two-point jumpshot to pass the milestone in the first half at 29 years and 103 days, behind LeBron James who reached the same feat in 28 years and 17 days.

Steph Curry and Klay Thompson both missed out for the Warriors, who lost their first game in six.

Elsewhere, the Chicago Bulls needed double overtime to overcome the New York Knicks 122-119, with rookie Lauri Markkanen scoring 33 points.

The sides finished regulation at 105-105, and were 112-112 after five extra minutes. But two free throws for the Finn and a pair of dunks from Robin Lopez saw the Bulls pull ahead for the win.

The Dallas Mavericks beat the Charlotte Hornets 115-111, while the Miami Heat saw off the Indiana Pacers 114-106, despite Victor Oladipo scoring 26 points.

John Wall had 35 points and 11 assists, but the Washington Wizards lost to the Utah Jazz 107-104, while Andre Drummond hit 22 points and 20 assists as the Detroit Pistons outclassed the Brooklyn Nets 114-80.

Joe Ingles had 10 points with six assists and five rebounds, including a vital go-ahead three-pointer late in the match.

Chris Paul had a big night - with 37 points, seven rebounds and 11 assists - as the Houston Rockets beat the Portland Trail Blazers 121-112, the Memphis Grizzlies edged past the New Orleans Pelicans 105-102 and the Milwaukee Bucks beat the Orlando Magic 110-103.

Russell Westbrook had 38 points and 10 rebounds, but his Oklahoma City Thunder lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves 104-88, while the Atlanta Hawks beat the Denver Nuggetts 110-97.
