Richmond megastar Dustin Martin is certain to return to AFL action next weekend, his coach Damien Hardwick says.

Martin missed the Tigers' 14-point away loss to Port Adelaide on Friday night because of a calf complaint.

Hardwick says the Brownlow medallist's injury isn't overly-serious.

"If the (Port) game was Sunday, he probably plays," Hardwick said after the Power's 10.12 (72) to 8.10 (58) win.

"We were just probably a couple of days short, that was the thing.

"It's one of those ones where you can push the envelope, he's probably going to miss possibly two (games) if it goes pear-shaped.

"So we would rather just take a week and get him back and play him in the Geelong game."

Premiership-winning forward Daniel Rioli will also be available for selection after being overlooked for the Port match because of a five-day break between his VFL game last Sunday and the AFL's Friday night fixture.

"The VFL draw is just horrendous, why they would have us on a five-day break is beyond me," Hardwick said.

"That obviously cost him (Rioli) this week because we weren't prepared to push him."

The Tigers' VFL side plays this Sunday with the AFL encounter against the Cats the following Sunday.

Hardwick said Dion Prestia (calf) was unlikely to return against Geelong while David Astbury will have scans on an ankle injury suffered in the loss to Port.
