Putting aside rain, the coldest day in two years and the unlikely task of defeating Brazil, Dutch fans still arrived in numbers as their side defeated the five time World Cup winners.
“We are Dutch we are used to the rain,” said one fan.
With a capacity of up to 30,000, organisers had no problem fitting in a tiny crowd with most hiding under the confines of the Darling Harbour bypass to avoid the rain and the dropping mercury.

Fans supporting the Netherlands although beginning the match out numbered and constantly booed by Brazilian supporters streamed in with greater numbers as the match progressed, and as the result looked that little bit more likely they became vocal.
“We love the World Cup here, its beautiful, we can watch the match together, and it brings unity to the people, it brings everyone together.” A Dutch foreign student, dressed in an Orange suit with his faced painted.
The full-time whistle saw screams of joy from Dutch fans as Brazil supporters slinked in to the night and home to lick their wounds.
One fan crying into her Brazil flag could not believe what had just happened.
“I don't know what just happened; Brazil is out of the World Cup” She said in between tears and a look of shock that spread like wildfire as the fulltime whistle sounded.
“This result was only fair, we should do better” said another Brazilian fan goaded by his Friends as he stood shocked looking at the screen of Dutch players jumping on top of each other to celebrate.
For all the tears for Brazil this was nothing to match the unbridled joy of the Dutch fans who following the full time whistle celebrated as if they had just won the final.
“I thought we had about a 10% chance and we still won in the end and I am so so happy I have been waiting for this for 60 years. I am ecstatic it's unbelievable” One fan screamed as fans broke out of security barriers to celebrate together.
When asked if it makes up for the losses to Brazil at recent appearances at the World Cup the answer was obvious.
“It makes up for it more than that, because this is the path to the World Championship we are finally going to win it.
“We are going to win it; we are going to party till next Sunday”
With a semi-final date with Uruguay it could be a long week for Dutch fans with more sleepless nights to come.
