West Coast defender Tom Barrass received the AFL rising star nomination for round 23 on Monday, after an impressive display in the Eagles' final-round win against Adelaide.

Barrass was one of West Coast's best in the 29-point win against the Crows on Friday, with 17 disposals, 10 marks and 10 spoils.

The 20-year-old has played nine games in the AFL this year, having played three games in his debut season in 2015.

Eagles coach Adam Simpson said the tall defender is gaining confidence while developing his skills.

"We're really proud of the way Tom is progressing," Simpson said.

"He has worked hard on his game and with people like Adrian Hickmott and Mark Nicoski, who coach our backline, guiding him he has developed nicely."

The AFL's regular season concluded on Sunday and after a weekend without fixtures, West Coast will play Western Bulldogs at Domain Stadium in Perth on Thursday 08 September in the first round of the league's finals series.
