Eagle Kennedy won't have the wobbles

Eagles forward Josh Kennedy has been given the green light to return from a shin injury in Saturday night's qualifying final against Collingwood in Perth.

West Coast don't expect Josh Kennedy to have a case of the wobbles when the star spearhead makes his AFL return in Saturday night's qualifying final against Collingwood.

Kennedy has missed almost seven weeks with a hairline fracture in his right shin, and he also missed three games earlier in the year with a hairline fracture near his right knee.

The 31-year-old is normally one of the most accurate goalkickers in the side, but was seen spraying a number of set shots at training earlier this week.

Kennedy later joked that he was merely getting the bad ones out of the way, and forwards coach Jaymie Graham doesn't expect the two-time Coleman medallist to have any goalkicking issues against Collingwood.

"It hasn't affected him. I don't see it having any affect on his goalkicking," Graham said in relation to Graham's leg issues.

"He hasn't had to adjust anything. At training, if you watch the boys, you'd see plenty of them spraying them here and there.

"He's a pro. Sometimes you can lose a bit of your touch and reading the flight of the ball, but he's managed to do plenty of that the last couple of weeks since being back with the main group.

"We know he's a competitor, and that's what he'll bring."

Graham said Kennedy's inclusion would have a positive ripple effect for fellow forwards Jack Darling, Willie Rioli, Mark LeCras, Liam Ryan, Jamie Cripps, and Daniel Venables.

"It takes a bit of pressure off Darling," Graham said.

"You bring it to ground, and hopefully you can bring Ryan, Rioli, Cripps, LeCras, and Venables into the game.

"That's the job of a key forward - to win or halve your contest."

Graham said it was a tough decision to drop Will Schofield as part of the move to bring back Lewis Jetta and Kennedy from injury.

But he said the veteran defender was still firmly in the selection frame for the rest of the finals series.

West Coast coach Adam Simpson used Mark Hutchings to tag Steele Sidebottom in the round 17 win at the MCG, and Graham said it was a tactic that might be repeated on Saturday night at a sold out Optus Stadium.

Collingwood have rolled the dice by recalling Jeremy Howe (thigh, Adam Treloar (hamstring), and Tyson Goldsack (knee).
