Early voters flock to polls in WA election

Voters are flocking to polling booths early ahead of the WA state election after a relaxation of rules.

More than 50,000 early votes have been cast in the WA state election following a relaxation of rules.

The number of ballots cast so far is a significant increase on numbers at the same stage in previous elections, says the WA Electoral Commission.

"Electors can now vote early if they want to, they no longer need to give a reason," Electoral Commissioner David Kerslake said in a statement on Wednesday.
