Up to 50 buildings in Cushing, Oklahoma, have sustained "substantial damage" in an earthquake, an official says.
Cushing City Manager Steve Spears says the damage from the magnitude 5.0 earthquake overnight includes cracks in buildings and fallen bricks and facades. He says access to the worst-hit areas remains restricted as crews continue to assess the damage.
No major injuries have been reported.
Spears says no damage has been reported at Cushing's major oil storage hub, but oil companies are conducting their own assessments.
Scientists have linked Oklahoma's increase in earthquakes to the underground injection of wastewater during oil and gas production.
Last week, state regulators called for new restrictions on disposal wells near the town of Pawnee following a 4.5 magnitude earthquake on November 1.
