Parramatta forward Manu Ma'u has unsuccessfully contested a dangerous throw charge at the NRL judiciary and will miss one match.

He failed in his challenge on Wednesday night, copping a one-match ban for his tackle on Titans playmaker Ash Taylor in last round's 34-14 loss on the Gold Coast.

Ma'u will miss the Eels' derby clash on Saturday with the Wests Tigers.

Earlier on Wednesday, South Sydney forward Tom Burgess entered an early plea to a grade-one shoulder charge count.

He sit out Sunday's match against Canberra, opting for a one-match ban.

Burgess drew the match review panel's attention for a shoulder charge on Daly Cherry-Evans late in Souths' 20-12 loss on Monday night to Manly.
