An EgyptAir domestic flight from Alexandria to Cairo has been hijacked and made to land in Cyprus. (AAP)

The suspected hijacker of an EgyptAir airliner has surrendered to authorities at Larnaca airport in Cyprus.

The hijacker has emerged from the aircraft with his hands in the air, state TV says.

"Its over," Cyprus's foreign ministry said in a tweet.
