An Egypt commentator died after reportedly suffering a heart attack after watching his country lose to Saudi Arabia in their final World Cup Group A match.

Abdel Rahim Mohamed, a well-known broadcast analyst, had been affected by "the poor performance of the national team" before the heart attack, according to Egypt Today.

Mohamed was expected to offer his thoughts following the match on state TV.

He was treated in Cairo's state television facility before being rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Egypt entered its first World Cup since 1990 with high hopes, but unfortunately lost 1-0 to Uruguay, 3-1 to Russia and 2-1 to Saudi Arabia to finish bottom of their group.
