A search is under way for a 74-year-old man missing in floodwaters in Western Australia's southeast, as flood warnings are in place for rivers across the state.

Police say the man's car was found submerged in floodwaters under the Jerdacuttup Bridge just after 6am on Sunday.

Just before 10.30am on Sunday, authorities found the body of another man, believed to be a 68-year-old who went missing after driving his car on a flooded road in Gibson, north of Esperance.

Significant river rises and moderate flooding were expected to continue in the Avon River catchment during Sunday into Monday, the Bureau of Metereology said.

Residents in Northam, Beverley, York and Toodyay are advised to watch for changes in water levels in case of evacuations, to prepare emergency kits and to drive with caution due to possible water or livestock on roads.

Moderate flooding is also expected in the Blackwood River catchment, with fast flowing and quick rising levels.

The weather bureau has forecast 5 mm to 15 mm of rain for the area until Monday morning, with significant river rises possible at downstream locations such as Boyup Brook, Winnejup and Bridgetown.

Minor flooding is expected in the Swan River catchment from Sunday into Monday, with a minor flood warning in place in parts of the Perth metro area.
