Elderly woman hit by car on Sydney road

A 76-year-old pedestrian has been taken to hospital in a serious condition after being hit by a car in Carlingford in Sydney.

A elderly woman has been taken to hospital in a serious condition after being struck by a car in Sydney's northwest, police say.

Paramedics were called to Carlingford at 7.40am on Wednesday after the 76-year-old was hit at the intersection of Pennant Hills Road and Westminster Avenue.

The male driver, in his 40s, was uninjured and taken to hospital for mandatory police alcohol and drug tests.
