Elderly woman killed in country Vic crash

A woman in her 80s has died after her car went on to the wrong side of the road and crashed with another car in country Victoria.

An elderly woman is dead after her car veered on to the wrong side of the road and crashed with another car in country Victoria.

The woman, aged in her 80s, was the only person in her car and died at the scene on the Bass Highway near Wonthaggi on Monday, police say.

A woman driving the second vehicle was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The woman's death is the first death on Victorian roads for 2017.

It is the 10th death on Victorian roads during the holiday period.
