Election eyes on building watchdog law

Liberal senator Zed Seselja says if there was serious frustration of the government's agenda in the Senate then there was an option of an early poll.

The federal government is talking up the importance of reinstating the building and construction industry watchdog as election speculation mounts ahead of parliament's return next week.

Liberal senator Zed Seselja acknowledged if there was serious frustration of the government's agenda then there was an option of an early double-dissolution poll.

"People on a much higher pay grade than me will make those decisions but ... I would certainly expect we would go full term which would be around September, October this year," he told Sky News on Thursday.
