Election-trigger bill clears final hurdle

The federal government's amended registered organisations bill has cleared the lower house.

Parliament has rubber-stamped the federal government's proposed new body aimed at cracking down on union misconduct.

The lower house on Tuesday agreed to amendments to legislation to set up the Registered Organisations Commission after it cleared the Senate.

The bill, which will now become law, is the first of two that Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull used to trigger a double dissolution election in July.
