The Queensland election result continues to hang in the balance, with 11 seats still undecided after Saturday's poll.

Annastacia Palaszczuk returned to work on Monday following her announcement over the weekend she was confident of winning the 47 seats needed to win a majority.

Labor has won 43 seats in the 93-seat parliament and is predicted to win another five.

LNP has secured 36 and is expected to have another four results go its way.

But a definitive result could still be several days away, as many seats will come down to preferences on pre-poll and postal votes, which increased significantly since the 2015 poll.

The Queensland Electoral Commission confirmed more than 800,000 people voted before election day.

Of the 11 undecided seats, Labor is ahead of the LNP on preferences in Gaven on the Gold Coast and Aspley in Brisbane's north.

But the LNP is in front on preferences in Pumicestone on the Sunshine Coast and Townsville.

Labor is neck and neck with the Greens in the inner-Brisbane seat of Maiwar, behind Shadow Treasurer Scott Emerson.

But he could be ousted by Labor candidate Ali King on preferences, who is leading the vote count by four per cent.
