Energy policy work enters final stages

The federal government's national energy guarantee plan will be put to state ministers in April.

State energy ministers will be asked to endorse the Turnbull government's national energy guarantee policy at a meeting on April 20.

Federal Energy Minister Josh Frydenberg told a business forum in Sydney on Wednesday the policy would be presented at the Melbourne meeting, ahead of the prime minister and premiers discussing it later in the year.

"I'm confident energy ministers (and) chief ministers will not let this chance slip," Mr Frydenberg said.
