After more than four decades in show business, Australian entertainer Denis Walter admits there's one field he never conquered.
"I've experienced all areas except for theatre," he said.
"But never say never."
Australia has grown up with Walter's baritone voice, whether it's been on the radio, television or through his music.
He presented the WIN evening regional news for 16 years and has been a Melbourne radio host for another 16 years - all while recording 16 albums.
He's performed at the Carols by Candlelight events for more than 30 years and says music is in the family blood.
"Dad was a classical singer," Walter said.
"One of the highlights was having my father join me on stage on Christmas Eve 1992."
Walter has been awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for his work in broadcast media and as a singer.
But the 60-year-old is also known for something else.
"Across my career I always tried to support as many charitable things as I can."
Walter has worked with an extensive range of causes and even opened his home garden in Geelong to events for seven years.
"We did it for a different charity each year to share the love," he said.
Walter plans to celebrate the Queen's birthday honour with a family lunch at one of his favourite wineries.
"I don't think I'll be driving, I'll tell you that," he said.
