ERA March quarter production up 21 pct

Uranium miner Energy Resources of Australia posted a 21 per cent increase in uranium oxide production to 593 tonnes in the March quarter.

Energy Resources of Australia has posted a 21 per cent increase in production during the March quarter to 593 tonnes of uranium oxide.

The company says all ore milled has been taken from existing stockpiles, and no exploration expenditure was incurred during the quarter.

The Rio Tinto-owned uranium miner is undertaking further work to assess key elements of the strategic review of its business, and it expects the results will be announced in the first half of 2016.

The review follows rejection in October by Kakadu's traditional owners of ERA's plans to expand development of the key Ranger uranium mine in the Northern Territory.

ERA posted a $275 million full-year loss in January amid difficult market conditions.
