New Zealand tennis No.1 Marina Erakovic and Spanish partner Silvia Soler-Espinosa face a battle in their ASB Classic doubles semi-final when it resumes on Saturday.
The Czech-Montenegin duo of Barbora Strycova and Danka Kovinic were up 6-4 5-4 and two points shy of victory when play was suspended in Auckland on Friday night because of rain.
While the first set was a neck-and-neck affair, Erakovic and Soler-Espinosa couldn't find many winners in the last two games.
With Strycova looking particularly dangerous at the net, she and Kovinic looked to be running away with the second set, going up 4-1.
Erakovic and Soler-Espinosa, spurred on by the local crowd, pulled out their best baseline plays of the match to claw back to 4-4, before falling 15-30 behind on Erakovic's serve.
