ERA's quarterly production up 12 pct

Uranium miner ERA has posted an increase in production of uranium oxide to 669 tonnes during the last quarter of the year.

Energy Resources of Australia has posted a 12 per cent increase in production during the December quarter to 669 tonnes of uranium oxide.

The company said all ore milled was taken from existing stockpiles, and no exploration expenditure was incurred during the quarter.

The Rio Tinto-owned uranium miner announced in October that Kakadu's traditional owners had rejected its plans to expand development of the key Ranger uranium mine in the Northern Territory.

The miner is undertaking a strategic review of its business as a result of the decision and expects to update shareholders in March.

In July, ERA reported a $255 million half year loss and suspended its interim dividend.
