A report into the light plane crash that killed five men at a Melbourne shopping centre will be released on Wednesday.

The men died when the plane crashed shortly after take off from Essendon Airport on February 20, killing four US golfing buddies and the Australian pilot.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau's initial report into the crash was due last week but was delayed to allow investigators more time to assess evidence.
