The estranged husband of slain Brazilian mining executive Cecilia Haddad has reportedly won a legal battle to claim her estimated $1.8 million estate.

Fairfax reports the NSW Supreme Court on Monday heard that Felipe Torres will take full ownership of Ms Haddad's life insurance, superannuation and other assets after her father conceded the pair were still married when she died.

Jose Ibrahim Haddad, Ms Haddad's father, had been locked in a court battle with Mr Torres, who is based in Perth.

“The father concedes that the marriage between the deceased and the defendant was in place and the husband is entitled to the estate,” Shauna Jarrett, acting for Mr Haddad, told the court on Monday.

According to Fairfax, Mr Torres agreed to divorce Ms Haddad months before her death and claimed in court papers he was her "next of kin".

On June 29, Mr Torres made an application to a court claiming “an interest in her estate”.

Ms Haddad's body was found in a Sydney river in April. Her ex-boyfriend, Mario Marcelo Santoro, has been charged with Ms Haddad's murder.

It's understood their relationship had ended weeks before her death.

The matter will return to court on August 27.
