We all know there's an election coming up and there could now be a hot new issue that some are calling a vote changer.

Euthanasia campaigner Dr Phillip Nitschke has announced he's running as a Senate candidate for the Voluntary Euthanasia Party.

Even though most polls show widespread support for legalising euthanasia, it's still one of the most controversial dilemmas of our time, but it hasn't always been that way.
