Sydney's Georges River has burst its banks with an evacuation ordered for 250 homes.

The Georges River has broken its banks, with an evacuation order issued for 250 homes in southwest Sydney.

Residents in parts of Milperra at risk of flooding have been ordered to evacuate immediately by the NSW SES.

Areas effected include Rickard Road, Arthur Street, Riverside Drive (between Arthur Street and Newbridge Road), Newbridge Road (between Rickard Road and Governor Macquarie Drive) and Davey Robinson Drive.
