Niall Evalds has scored a hat-trick of tries and former NRL winger Ken Sio a double on debut for Salford in their 34-14 win against Huddersfield in the opening round of the English Super League.
Until Red Devils fullback Evalds took matters into his own hands in the final quarter on Friday, there had been little between the two teams.
However, his quickfire double midway through the second period proved decisive as the visitors produced a sprint finish to storm to an emphatic victory.
Huddersfield drew first blood when halfback Izaac Farrell landed a fourth-minute penalty then Red Devils hit the front in the 15th minute as Junior Sa'u dived over.
Sio's first try gave the visitors an 8-2 lead at the break.
Huddersfield replied with Akuila Uate scoring his first try for his new club but Evalds' two tries in rapid succession swung the momentum to Salford.
Sio, who returned to the Super League after parting with NRL club Newcastle last year, then scored his second and Evalds racked up his hat-trick before Kruise Leeming got one more for Huddersfield.
But the Red Devils had the last laugh when Derrell Olpherts touched down on the final hooter.
In the day's other games, Hull KR won a thrilling Hull derby thanks to a try six seconds from time by debutant centre Jimmy Keinhorst, while Greg Eden scored twice in Castleford's hard-fought 20-4 victory over Catalans Dragons.
