Australian cyclist Cadel Evans has finished second in the stage 20 individual time trial at the Tour de France, taking the yellow jersey for the ride into Paris tomorrow.
Evans finished second behind German Tony Martin and ahead of three time Tour de France winner Alberto Contador in the 42.5 km time trial which finished in Grenoble, the crucial, penultimate stage of this year's event.
Evans began the time trial with a 57-second deficit on race leader Andy Schleck. The Australian made up 1 minutes 34 seconds on his rival to move into the lead position overall at the Tour de France.

Stage 21 of the Tour will see the pack ride into Paris tomorrow. The final stage of the event is ceremonial and it is Tour tradition for the riders not to contest the overall positions.
This mean Cadel Evans will be the first Australian to win the Tour de France in its 108 year history.
