Everest climbers share ascent via Snapchat

The climb to the top of Mount Everest will be shared live on image-sharing application Snapchat for the first time by two American climbers.

Two American climbers will share their 8848 metre ascent up Mount Everest in real-time using their Snapchat account EverestNoFilter.

Professional hiker Adrian Ballinger and National Geographic photographer Cory Richards hope to give their viewers a realistic and unfiltered look at climbing the world's highest mountain.

So far the duo have snapped glimpses of daily mountain life such as brushing their teeth in the snow, keeping themselves warm and answering viewers' questions on the journey to the top.

"Every single time I get on a slope, it's scary. A little fear is super-healthy. A little fear is what keeps you alive," Richards said.

Nine Nepali guides became the first group in two years to summit the mountain on Wednesday.
