Ex-AFL player Palmer's surgery after crash

Former Fremantle, GWS and Carlton AFL player Rhys Palmer has been hospitalised with serious injuries after a motorcycle crash.

Former AFL player Rhys Palmer has undergone surgery after suffering serious injuries in a motorcycle crash.

He has been in an induced coma after Saturday night's collision between his bike and a car.

Police are investigating Palmer and a female passenger's involvement in the accident.

He plays for WA side Swan Districts. The club said in a statement he was not to blame for the crash.

Palmer played 123 games for Fremantle, GWS and Carlton from 2008-17.
