Ex-ANZ exec to head China business lobby

Former ANZ and Telstra executive Helen Sawczak will be the new chief executive of lobby group Australia China Business Council.

The Australia China Business Council has appointed former ANZ and Telstra executive Helen Sawczak as its new chief executive.

A former corporate lawyer at international law firms, Ms Sawczak worked for 10 years at Telstra in senior positions including corporate counsel, national corporate security manager and assistant company secretary.

She subsequently moved to ANZ as head of communications for Australia.

"She has the strategic and organisational leadership skills and expertise in both private and government organisations to lead the ACBC through its next phase of change, growth and development.," ACBC chairman and former Victorian Premier John Brumby said in a statement.

China is Australia's largest trading partner, with two-way trade of more than $155 billion annually.
