Ex-federal Lib MP One Nation WA president

Paul Filing, a former federal Liberal MP, has been appointed president of Pauline Hanson's One Nation in Western Australia.

Former federal Liberal MP Paul Filing has been appointed West Australian president of Pauline Hanson's One Nation, replacing Doug Shaw, who quit in anger.

Mr Shaw vacated the role and ran as an independent in the Darling Range state by-election because he was "pissed off" when the party rejected his candidacy nomination after he failed the vetting process, according to WA leader Colin Tincknell.

Mr Filing would create a pre-selection panel for the party's WA federal election candidates and be responsible for preference talks, Mr Tincknell said in a statement on Tuesday.

Mr Filing was first elected to the federal parliament in 1990 and quit politics after serving three terms.

He is currently a mortgage broker and franchise store owner for Aussie Home Loans in Perth.

He was a detective for the WA Police company fraud squad before entering politics.
