Former New Zealand netballer Tania Dalton's life support has been turned off five days after suffering a brain aneurysm during a social game of touch rugby.
The 45-year-old ex-Silver Fern was admitted to Auckland City Hospital in a critical condition after collapsing last Thursday at the game in Takapuna.
"It is expected that she will slip away when she is ready, anytime from now," the family said on Tuesday in a statement.
Test results revealed the aneurysm she experienced had resulted in massive blood loss and, ultimately, oxygen to the brain being cut off for an extended period.
The statement said her family were by her side.
Dalton played 37 Tests, mostly at goal shooter, across an 11-year international career which finished in 2007, and she was part of the 2003 world championship-winning squad.
