A former player for the New York Knicks has been arrested after abusing the boss of Madison Square Garden and shoving security who tried to intervene during the NBA team's loss to the LA Clippers.
Charles Oakley was a popular player for the Knicks in the 1990s but has fallen out of favour with the club because of disparaging remarks about Madison Square Garden chairman James Dolan.
The match - which the Clippers won 119-115 - temporarily stopped in the first quarter when Oakley shouted at Dolan from a seat a couple of rows behind until security came.
In bizarre scenes, Oakley shoved a couple of them before he was removed while players on both teams watched.
The Knicks tweeted a statement following the incident.
"Charles Oakley came to the game tonight and behaved in a highly inappropriate and completely abusive manner," it read.
"He has been ejected and is currently being arrested by the New York City Police Department. He was a great Knick and we hope he gets some help soon."
