Prominent curator Brenda Croft is better known for her exhibitions promoting Indigenous artists from around the country.
Now she's the one in the artistic spotlight, with the Art Gallery of New South Wales showing four series of her works.
Ms Croft started out as a photographer in the 90s and became a curator following her founding role in the Artists Cooperative in Sydney, "Boomalli".
Her images reflected the Sydney community in the '90s. In her 1992 series "Conference Call" she captured the fresh faces of Redfern locals: A young Redfern All Black, now Local Australian Hero of the Year, Shane Phillips, Arts leader, Hetti Perkins as a young mum, and one of her mentors, Mervyn Bishop with her Dad.
Brenda's family inform her work constantly, highlighting injustices they faced. Her Dad was taken to "The Bungalow" children's home in Alice Springs at the same time as Charlie Perkins.
She is currently completely her PhD at the College of Fine Art and she's picking up the camera to be an artist again. Her show is on exhibition until September.
