A panoramic photograph of Wembley Stadium during the FA Cup final between Manchester City and Stoke City aims to be the world's largest 360-degree panoramic sports shot.
Thousands of photographs were taken inside the stadium during the FA final between Manchester City and Stoke City on May 14th. They were then stitched together to create a massive 10-gigapixel 360-degree panoramic photo.
The Wembley360 project invites fans to tag themselves and find their friends in the photo. An estimated 90,000 fans were at the game in Wembley Stadium. So far the photo had been tagged more than 17,000 times, technology news website Mashable reports.
Wembley commissioned panoramic specialist photographer Jeffrey Martin , creator of the 80 gigapixel London Panorama, to take hundreds of high-resolution images inside the stadium during the game that were then transferred via a super fast broadband pipe to a server to be "stitched" together. The end result is more than 1,000 individual photos which are sorted, matched and blended together.
