A community Facebook page has been created to welcome refugees and migrants to Australia.
The page, called "New Humans of Australia," is based on the popular "Humans of New York" blog that features photographs of people on the streets of New York.
New Humans of Australia features portraits of people on the streets of Australia with quotes from them about their lives.
One image is of an Afghan man named Hassan who came to Australia as a teenager.
"I came here in 1999, at the age of 17, by myself, without any family," he said. "My father was killed by the Taliban.
"Then, one day, the Taliban came to our village and took my older brother away.
"The only reason they didn’t get me was because I was visiting my uncle that day."
The page has more than 20,000 "likes" and a large volume of comments from users.
"Thank you for making this page," wrote one. "If people stand together as humans we can transcend these horrors together. It is people like you who make Australia great and I hope we continue to progress through education, understanding and love."
Humans of New York was started in 2010 by photographer Brandon Stanton.
