A Facebook group has been shut down after it tried to rally people to vote against the upcoming 'Black Panther' movie.
Marvel's 'Black Panther' was described as "the best MCU movie" to date and received high-praise following the world premiere on January 29, and has been touted as a potential "watershed moment" for Hollywood by executive producer Nate Moore.
However, Marvel News reported that fans of DC Comics had planned to damage the films Rotten Tomatoes score, a movie review website, and the same Facebook group targeted Disney's 'The Last Jedi'.
Marvel shared screenshots showing it had reported the group for "harassment".
The group 'Down with Disney's Treatment of Franchises and its Fanboys' was created with the purpose to "Give Black Panther a Rotten Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes".
Facebook responded and removed the group saying it doesn't promote "hate speech and bullying".
"Such discussion can promote a diversity of perspectives and greater understanding," a statement to CNN read.
"However, we're opposed to hate speech and bullying, and don't allow either on our platform.
"We want Facebook to be a space where both expression and personal safety are protected and respected," it added.
"That's why we developed our Community Standards, which you can read on our site."
Rotten Tomatoes also responded to CNN claiming it will monitor the platform for "hate speech".
"While we respect our fans' diverse opinions, we do not condone hate speech," the statement to CNN read.
"Our team of security, network and social experts continue to closely monitor our platforms and any users who engage in such activities will be blocked from our site and their comments removed as quickly as possible."
Black Panther topped 'Captain America: Civil War' selling the most pre-sale tickets in the first 24 hours for a Marvel Cinematic Universe movie, according to Fandango.
Black Panther will be released on February 15th in Australia.
