Falling tree branch kills man in Tasmania

A man has died after being hit by a branch while chopping down a tree in Tasmania's north west.

A man has been killed by a falling branch while chopping down a tree in Tasmania's north west.

The 61-year-old was hit by the branch about 2.30pm on a private property on Cuba Road, Smithton.

He was working with another person who was uninjured and a report is being prepared for the coroner, Tasmania Police say.
