The family of accused drug mule Cassandra Sainsbury are flying to Colombia to visit the 22-year-old.

Mother Lisa Evans and sister Khala Sainsbury flew out of Adelaide on Wednesday morning, bound for first Brisbane and then Bogota, News Corp reported.

They declined to comment when questioned at the airport.

Ms Sainsbury was detained at El Dorado International Airport on April 12 after 5.8 kilograms of cocaine was allegedly found hidden inside 18 headphone boxes in her suitcase.

She is being held in Bogota's El Buen Pastor women's jail and reportedly told a Colombian lawyer that she was tricked and given the headphones by a man she knew only by Angelo or Tom.

The man offered to buy her the headphones for a cheap price and brought them to her at the airport.

Fiance Scott Broadbridge told reporters recently he believed Ms Sainsbury was innocent but was finding her situation "extremely stressful".

"She is concerned about the conditions of the jail which are not ideal and it is very difficult for her not knowing anyone in the country," he said.

"I hope to get over there soon and I hope that we are able to prove her innocence.

"Cass is the delight of my life. I know that she is not involved in the drug trade."
