Family's greyhound food business to end

The Pace family are but one of many people who will out of a job when greyhound racing in NSW is banned from July 1, 2017.

The family behind a five-decade old pet food supply business remain hopeful the NSW government will re-think its ban on greyhound racing.

Rebecca and John Pace run Luddenham Pet Meat, about 70km west of Sydney, and its core business is supplying greyhound owners and trainers throughout NSW with fresh meat but the sport will be banned in NSW from July 1, 2017.

The business will close when the ban comes in and they've warned about biosecurity issues with their knackery closing and there will be nowhere for horses and cattle to be humanely euthanised.

"This decision will close all licensed NSW knackeries - there's about five of us which supply the greyhound industry - there is no other option for us," Ms Pace told AAP.
