A season that began in glory has ended on a desperate low for the Western Sydney Wanderers as police investigate fan trouble which left two officers with minor injuries.
Police say they were forced to use capsicum spray after some fans became aggressive when they tried to reach a man who set off a flare inside Pirtek Stadium during the Wanderers's 2-1 final-round home loss to Perth Glory.
The man was ejected from the stadium and six people were treated for exposure to the spray.
However trouble erupted again at halftime as about 150 gathered outside the northern end of the stadium and police say some threw cigarettes and coins at officers, while others approached them in an aggressive manner.
Police again used capsicum spray before back-up riot squad and dog squad arrived and the crowd dispersed.

Two male senior constables were treated for minor injuries after one of them had a coin thrown into his face and the other was kicked and punched in the back.
Police said they were working with stadium staff and club officials to identify those responsible.
The loss left the Asian champions just a point above last-placed Newcastle Jets with a dreadful A-League season record of just four wins with six draws and 17 losses.
